Clubs all over the nation celebrated BGC Week by participating in daily themed activities, partnering up with local business to give kids and teens amazing celebrations, and giving all members a place to be themselves & have new experiences.

Small Clubhouse, Big Impact
Sometimes we don’t see the impact the club makes— we just hope our words and actions, as well as the programs we help the young people that come through our doors reach their full potential. Once in a while members surprise us by showing us their appreciation in ways we didn’t imagine. This was true for the Harris Farms Boys & Girls Club when Juan (age 7) showed up after school proudly holding his first place school project.

Sports are back!
The Boys & Girls Club indoor soccer season started in March of this year and the communities that surround participating Clubs were beyond excited. The final game was on Saturday, May 14th and the awards banquet was held the following Tuesday, both at the East Fresno Club. Every soccer player received a participation medal. Three special players were chosen to receive the Golden Ball Award—these are large, gold, soccer ball-shaped trophies awarded to those who showed good character and leadership throughout the season.
The winners of the 2022 Golden Ball Awards are Francisco (age 10), Iker (age 11), and Nathan (age 12).
“The Club taught me to always try your best and never give up. That is what I told my team too,” said Nathan.

Clovis Club is 'Lovin It'
On April 19th, many Boys & Girls Club supporters had dinner at a local McDonald’s restaurant to raise money for the Clovis Club.
“I think it’s pretty cool that we were able to raise so much in one day. The Club could really use this,” said a Clovis teen.

A 25 Year Tradition: Easter in Del Rey
25 years ago, the Del Rey Boys & Girls Club staff decided to have an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids coming to the Club. They hid 100 eggs in the park and had a great time bonding with members. Little did they know, the event would catch the attention of multiple community members wanting to help put a smile on kid’s faces during Easter. Fast forward to 2022, the Del Rey staff hosted over 200 people and 7 vendors, and hid 5,000 eggs at their Annual Easter Event-- in the same park where it all started.

You Can Too Conference: Selma's 1st Annual Women's Conference
The You Can Too Conference is a women’s conference designed to inspire young women and girls to fight stereotypes, be brave, and dream about future careers.
“Providing help. Providing Hope. That is what we are all about,” says Rubie, “My wish is for our members to hear stories from women in our community who have overcame because they need to be inspired right now. They need to know that they can do it too.”

March Madness at Zimmerman Club
The pressure was on as our Zimmerman teens battled Planet Fitness Staff Members in a basketball tournament on March 18th. March Madness has been a great tradition in our Clubs and has resulted in many new members experiencing the Club for the first time. Players bring their friends and family to watch the game and existing members cheer on their friends from the sidelines.

2022 Youth of the Year
The 16th annual Youth of the Year was a success because of the power of the Club and the investment from mentors and donors who have changed the lives of teens once again.
“Thank you to the Club for giving us this opportunity and thank you to all the competitors-- they did so good. It was amazing to hear everyone’s stories. We all deserve this,” said Kalé, moments after hearing the news of his victory.

Michelle Obama's Pass the Love Campaign: A Focus on Health Equality
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County was thrilled to be chosen as one of five cities to receive free healthy meals through Michelle Obama’s Pass the Love Campaign. As a team, we helped feed over 500 families during the first week!
“We want to make sure everyone can discover new foods and explore the kitchen together just like my friends, Waffles and Mochi,” said Michelle Obama.

Sanger Teen Summit
Last month 17 members from our Sanger Club participated in Innovating Sanger—a gang prevention summit funded by Measure S. Members heard an inspiring story by “Willie,” who left his gang to pursue a degree at Harvard University. They also participated in two educational workshops and enjoyed delicious pizza for lunch! Fitness in the Club
On Thursday December 2nd, personal trainers from Planet Fitness came to the East Fresno Club to celebrate the re-opening of the weight room. They also engaged with our teens in personalized workouts and played a game of dodgeball with the whole Club. Planet Fitness values a healthy lifestyle and is known for their “Judgment Free Zones”—two things we value as well.
