Character & Leadership Development
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County believes in helping youth become productive, caring, responsible citizens. They also develop leadership traits and provide opportunities for future planning, decision-making, contributing to Club and community, and celebrating our national heritage.
Youth of the Year
Youth of the Year is designed to promote and recognize teens for their service to the Club, community, academics, and contributions to their family and spiritual life. Each year a Unit Director nominates a teen member to represent their Club as the Youth of the Year. At the Youth of the Year Judging Event, teens share their club experience, personal story, and future aspirations. The Youth of the Year selected to represent the county receives a $3,000 reimbursable college scholarship and numerous gifts from our sponsors. The Fresno County Youth of the Year then competes in Northern California, and if selected, moves on to State, Regional and National Championships. The National Youth of the Year receives an additional $10,000 scholarship and is installed by the President of the United States.
